SWFL Ballet welcomes children ages 4 and up into the Pre-Ballet program. Placement is determined by each child’s readiness, classroom behavior, and ability to follow instruction. Enrollment is not guaranteed until the trial class has been completed, and based on teacher observation and recommendation, we reserve the right to recommend enrollment at a later time if a child is not yet prepared for the class.
Starting a ballet program can feel like stepping into unfamiliar territory for your child. Pre-Ballet classes provide a nurturing environment where students grow comfortable and confident as they learn the foundational elements of this beautiful art form.
Classes focus on developing proper posture, rhythm, and coordination through the use of props such as tambourines and ribbons.
Your child will learn correct hand placement at the barre, as well as the basic arm and foot positions in ballet. Fundamental ballet vocabulary is introduced in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
Classes are accompanied by classical music from renowned composers such as Tchaikovsky, Minkus, and Glazunov.
Pre-Ballet students cultivate a love and appreciation for ballet while building confidence and joy in movement at an early age.
